A note from Kathleen Dillard:

April 1607, on Cape Henry, Robert Hunt declared, “…from these very shores the Gospel shall go forth to not only this New World, but the entire world.”
Hello!
I wanted to take a minute to share with you, that Wayne Dillard, founder of the Prayercentral ministry went to heaven on April 3, 2010. It was the day before Easter, and he had written a beautiful prayer about the resurrection to all the members of Prayercentral that morning. He had no idea that several hours later he, himself, would go into the arms of Jesus, THE Resurrection and the Life. Wayne's Resurrection Prayer is here....

By God's grace I seek to finish what Wayne got started here on Prayercentral. Myself and our two college age daughters continue, missing Wayne with all our hearts.

Grieving, yet believing!

Thank you so very much for your prayers and partnership with us in God's kingdom!

Wayne Dillard’s Resurrection Prayer

I was thinking about Christ this morning, and His resurrection. How He ascended and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. And how He is now represented on earth through His Body, the collective believers He is gathering together from every tongue and tribe and nation. We are His voice, and hands and feet, and together, as we each move in obedience to the Holy Spirit we represent Him in this dark and fallen world.

What a privilege, what a blessing, to be in this world, but not of it. To be a reflection of hope to those in despair. To be the ones who call out into this cave of darkness, “over here, over here, we found the way out!” We have been rescued by the death and resurrection of Christ, and we now have the privilege of bring that ‘Good News’ to others.

Prayer:
I bless you in the name of Christ, whose blood covers the doorpost of your life, whose death set you free from darkness, and whose resurrection empowers you to glorify His name through bold acts of faith.

I bless you in the name of the One, who loves you with an everlasting love, who knows all your thoughts, catches ever tear, and hears every whisper. The One who makes a way when there is no way, and brings streams in the midst of your desert.

I bless you with the peace of Christ that passes understanding, and carries you up and over the obstacles of life. The knowing that there is more than you can see, and that in Christ you live and breathe and move and have your being.

I bless you with the resurrection power of Jesus, that calls you to your place, unites you with fellow believers, equips you for exploits and sends you forth with boldness and purpose.

May Jesus, the son God, the Christ, the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world, the Prince of Peace, the King of Kings, the One true God, who reigns and rules forever be represented through your life, and glorified by your faith, love and obedience.

In the mighty and worth name of Jesus, Amen.

IMPORTANT note to YOU, about your prayers and Wayne’s impact through Prayercentral

“It’s no coincidence that the war in Iraq began to turn around just about the time the Baghdad Prayer Patrol was formed. As I traveled the country, I began to hear about it from Christians that I met, and even to see posters people had made and put on the walls inside the CBN newsroom reminding people to pray.

Prayer isn’t the least we can do, it’s the most we can do. Wayne Dillard understood that. And by mobilizing hundreds of thousands of believers to petition God for change in the middle east, he helped change the course of history. I firmly believe that.

To honor Wayne’s legacy, let’s show the world the power of prayer once again as we pray for Afghanistan. In all my travels, I’ve rarely seen a place so spiritually desolate – most Afghans have never even met a Christian, and without meaningful political and social change, they never will. Pray for brave Christians to be called to go into that dark land. Pray for God to miraculously open doors for the gospel there, and pray that the presence of hundreds of thousands of western military and civilian contractors would have spiritual “side effects” that accomplish God’s purposes.

Thank you, Wayne Dillard, for showing us that even if we never get a chance to leave our homes, we can still impact people around the world.”

Memorial Service for Wayne Dillard

The Charge

“As for many other people, Wayne’s life is a life we can commemorate as a life lived well. I shared with Wayne’s mom, what an honor and privilege it has been for me to know Wayne Dillard. I know that there are nations whose legacies will be altered in eternity because of the sacrifices and efforts that Wayne Dillard made.

This nation…this nation…has benefited from not only from his life and service in the air-force but has benefited from his life and the prayers laid down for the many years of his service in ministry in this nation. The nation of India…Oh… the harvest fields that are ripe, that are going be reaped because of the prayers that are laying in the soil of that nation!

The outcome of the war in Iraq! A whole nation transformed because of prayer… in Afghanistan a nation impacted because of the Afghan prayer patrol!!

Jesus said if any man wants to be my disciple there is a cost.

First he said, any one who wants to be my disciple, you have to love me more than you love anyone else: there was a RELATIONAL cost to being his disciple.

The second thing he said was if anyone loves me …let him pick up his cross and DAILY follow me: there was a PERSONAL cost to following Jesus.

The last thing he said the same way, if anyone does not give up everything, he cannot be my disciple: There is a LIFE cost.

I would imagine his mother, sisters – Barb, Sandy, brother Jimmy, can share with us some of the things Wayne as a child, said that he wanted to do/be when he grew up, what he wanted to be.

Then he met Jesus. Jesus said HEY Wayne, “Come and run with me, lay it all down Wayne, cos its worth it Wayne, if you ever catch the vision its worth it,!” Wayne laid his life down, he became a disciple of Jesus.

Dr. Umidi read the proclamation that Wayne wrote last Saturday before he passed. Wayne wrote that in faith. Because there is no guarantee that Jesus is standing on the other side…hello, people… there is no guarantee! But today Wayne has no more faith, because he SEES his faith fully realized in the face of Jesus!

Where does that leave us on the fields here, with the legacy of a life lived well? Wayne has joined that great cloud of witnesses, Paul talks about in Hebrews 12:1-2

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”.

For you Wayne have come to Mt Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, to the city of the living God. Wayne, you have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn whose names are written in heaven, you have come to God, Wayne, the judge of all men, to the spirit of righteous men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.

Wayne we salute you for the sacrifices and efforts that were expended on behalf of Jesus and your family. We bless you Wayne, we were honored and privileged to have known you and walked with you in whatever capacity it was, and Jesus we thank you for sparing Wayne with your love and affection that we cannot even comprehend, for wrapping him up and taking him on this journey of his life. And now Jesus, you see your son face to face and you behold him in his glory, and the honor you bestow upon him; and Lord we are provoked, PROVOKED, TO CAST ASIDE everything that so easily entangles our feet, things that we don’t need Lord. To fix our eyes on you Jesus, and to run with all the effort and energy we have with whatever is left of our life Lord, so that one day when we stand in front of you Lord we will not be ashamed, at your appearing. We Love you Jesus, and we thank you that you took Wayne into your presence, and we long for the day we will be reunited with our brother and see him again in heaven. Thank you Jesus for the surety and confidence that where you are we will be also. Amen.

Dear Prayer Partners,

Wayne DIllardThis is Kathleen Dillard, Wayne’s wife writing to you today with some unexpected news. Last night, April 3rd at 7 PM Wayne had, what we believe to be, heart failure.

The day before Easter, he went into the arms of THE Resurrection Himself. It was a sunny day in Colorado and Wayne was busy and happy doing the things he loved.

As for myself and our two college age daughters, Julia and Jessica, we are in shock. Our hearts are both heavy and hopeful. Your prayers are a great help to us right now.

As for Prayercentral, we feel Wayne was ‘in the middle’ of so many God appointed projects, that I will take the baton forward where Wayne left off last night.

Which means, you will hear more from us at Prayercentral.

If you would like to give a gift in Wayne’s honor, you can do that through the “Giving to Prayercentral” link at the bottom of the page or at the following address:

To my sisters, Kathleen, Julia and Jessica…

Your husband and father Wayne was a “real” man of God. He, like all of us, was presented with an opportunity to do God’s bidding, and went into it “Full steam ahead!” He helped more people than you will (or he may) ever know through his many avenues of ministry, and years of encouraging Words in service to Our Loving Father and Great God.

I want to personally thank you Kathleen, for sharing him with us! Losing your best friend and confidante will leave a big hole in your life. Praise be to The Lord, for His love will fill it! I have used Wayne’s newsletters to encourage and aid in the growth of my friends as well as my own.

“To the girls”…I know about losing a dad. I lost mine at the age of 16…my mom 4 years earlier. You may feel at “alone” times like you could just die from the hurt and emptiness…..”but you won’t.” God will become a husband to the widows and a Father to the fatherless. Time will ease the pain. You are so blessed to have had such an “obedient and loving” dad. “What an fine example he gave you in himself!” Do his memory honor by carrying on in his footsteps!

May God Bless and Comfort your family in the days to come…Your sister in Christ, Patti

    Heavenly Father,

This is one of those times when only the Holy Spirit can have the depth of expression that Your children feel over the loss of Wayne to this earthly world. We are sad for our grieving sisters, Kathleen, Julia and Jessica and yet we know joy in the midst of sorrow because Your word has shown us a minute bit of the beauty of heaven and we know that Wayne is right now with You and Jesus in the most perfect way. Thank You for his life and the way he served You and blessed people through his prayer efforts and utilizing his gifts and skills to glorify You. Please give that blessed comfort that is felt by the lifting up through prayer to Kathleen, Julia and Jessica. These are faith testing times for them and I pray their faith will grow even stronger by the flexing of the muscles that is required to go through these tough days. Love them through it all Lord. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

    Dear Kathleen Dillard,
My prayers are for you and your family during this time of renewed dependence on the Lord. I want to take this opportunity to let you know what a source of comfort and peace your husband has provided me over this past year through this prayer ministry. The Middle East is a place close to my heart for many reasons, including my boyfriend serving abroad. Wayne’s words encouraged me every morning, and provided me with the necessary daily perspective that God is in control. My hope is that during these next few weeks you and your family are able to feel the same hope and comfort that your husband so lovingly provided for so many people. I look forward to remaining a part of this prayer ministry.
    Sincerely.

I first came to prayer central when my husband was deployed to Kuwait in 2007. It was such a relief to find a group of dedicated souls that was praying for not only my husband’s safety, but for all the people in the area. I firmly believe that those prayers brought him back to me and all the men and women that he served with. He is now again in Iraq and I am encouraged everyday to read the words of those who are crying aloud to our Savior to keep the peace. Mr. Dillard is my hero and I am saddened to hear of his passing. I want to thank you, dear ladies, for encouraging him to be there in ways that I could not. You have inspired me to keep going and trust in the Lord with my husband’s life in ways I never thought possible. May the Lord’s peace shine on you every day.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Kathleen, Julia, and Jessica,

Although I have never met you personally, I feel I know you a litte bit by being part of the Prayer Central. I’m not going to give you a bible verse because you know so many, I’m not going to say Wayne’s with the Lord now, because you already know that. I just want to say my heart aches for you because I know how much you love him and how much his absence must hurt. If God almighty grieves then we certainly are allowed to grieve, and I grieve for you in this time of your loss and grief! Just know that you are in my heart and prayers, and if I could see you face to face, I would simply walk up to each of you, wrap my arms around you, and say, “I’m so sorry.”
With so much love and sympathy…bonny

It is with earthly sorrow and heavenly joy to learn of Wayne’s passing into the arms of his Savior. I want to share with you how I used the “blessing” prayer that Wayne sent yesterday. I printed it out and had my family stand in a circle before our Easter dinner and each took turns reciting one of the blessings to the person next to them. It was very powerful and meaningful and will become a tradition at Easter for us.

You and Julia and Jessica are in my prayers.

I just read his Easter prayer for us. I can’t process this news. Have you asked God to raise him from the dead? I can only pray in the spirit – God bless you all.

    Dear Kathleen,

As I read this all that came to mind, is that he finished so well. I know you were not finished with him and neither is the Lord. I am sure more work for God’s kingdom will be given to him after the welcome home party is over.

As I read the message I immediately went to the e-mail that I received from Wayne on 4/3 at 2:57 pm. As I read his words I was overcome by just how much the Lord must love a man like your husband to give him the opportunity to pray over all the people he served and blessed before being taken home. Even as I write this now, I am overcome by the thought of what Jesus said to him when He first welcomed Him home.

I will keep you all in my prayers. I will ask God to remember you whenever He brings you to mind. I am so inspired by the work the Lord has chosen to given to you all. Oh that we could all be as faithful as your family.

You know as I write this Kathleen, I just want to say the grace of God on you can not be missed as I reflect on how He brought you all to Colorado prior to Wayne’s appointed time. I pray that you are loving the new home where God has planted you. Bloom Kathleen, bloom! Dwell in the land the Lord hath given you, be blessed and bloom dear woman. Be that fragrant aroma you tell us of so often.

Much love in and through Christ to you

Oh Precious Kathleen, Julia and Jessica,

What a shock for the three of you! What can I say but that God has called Wayne home, his work on earth is finished, he is rejoicing with Father God in Heaven and as Wayne was welcomed through the heavenly gates he heard these words… well done, good and faithful servant.

Our prayers are with you all… for comfort, peace, direction… you are deeply loved by God even in the midst of sorrow.

Oh my heart goes out to you all. My dear husband died VERY suddenly only 8 weeks ago of brain aneurysm. He too had a wonderful last day on earth and is now with the Savior too. I will pray for you because the valley you will walk through as I am now is long and hard–but our Savior and Lord will be with you. Let Him be your comfort, sister.

This is the 2nd husband I have had to say good-bye to. It isn’t easy, but God is good and do trust Him. Right now, you are still in shock and it will become very real sometime soon.

My love and prayers….His prayer that was published last night brought tears to my eyes.

Dear Kathleen, Julia and Jessica –
I found this awesome web-site by accident just two days ago. I was literally jumping for joy. It has meant the world to me as a Mom whose son just deployed to Afghanistan (2 days ago). The peace and comfort Prayer Central has given me in the last two days is overwhelming. I ran about telling all my friends of amazing Wayne Dillard and this ministry for the military. I am shocked and saddened, but rejoicing with you in the news of his passing into Glory. Your pain is great, for you have lost a dear man. I am heart broken for you, but joy will come in the morning, you will smile again my dear sisters. The greatest way for us to honor your Husband and Father is to promote his cause. I will do that the best I can. I pray that you will receive one blessing after another and his ministry will grow beyond measure.

    Dear Kathleen, Jessica and Julia:

I too am shocked by this news that has just found its way to my computer. I was feeling there was a “push” in the prayer requests for house hunting that were shared earlier as the family got to Colorado. Perhaps he knew he “had” to get some things done. well, just an observation and nothing to prove such feelings.

God bless you, each one. I have found the prayer site a blessing. Thank you for going forward with this project. May you receive Holy Spirit inspiration and revelation as you go forward. Jesus comfort your hearts and wrap you in His arms. Amen.
