Remember the Past to Fulfill Your Future

Where’s Your Rock Pile?

Joshua: 4:4-7
So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you.

In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel for ever.”

Just like Joshua, we all have rock piles, those “God-events” in our lives where God peaked through from eternity and touched our lives in some way. God wants you to remember those times.

Why Remember?
1-Gives us courage. The one thing we all fear is the unknown. Remembering the past gives us courage to face the unknown because we have seen God bring us through the unknown before.

2-Strengthens Your Faith. Once you have seen God heal, heard Him speak, or watched Him divinely provide for a need, your faith is strengthened for the next time that need presents itself.

3- Glorifies God Through Your Testimony. When you remember what God has done and tell others, it Glorifies God.

Take some time today to remember what God has done for you, write down some of your rock piles, so you will be ready for whatever the future brings you.
