In a Sunday service recently the pastor introduced a missionary who was sitting in the congregation. After having the missionary stand up, he announced, “This is a deadman!” The children at the front of the church all began to laugh. They couldn’t understand how the man standing their could be a deadman.
The pastor went on to explain that this man, had so fully given his life to Christ that he was no longer living for this world. He had left family, friends, the comforts of America, and his home culture to serve the cause of Christ in a foreign place. He was dead to the desires of this world, and living only to please his Lord.
How about you?
You may not be a missionary, but God has called us all to be dead to the things of this world and alive to Christ.
Deadman Facts:
You can’t hurt a deadman’s feelings
A deadman doesn’t care where he lives (pun intended)
A deadman isn’t concerned about his comforts
A deadman is not afraid of dying
A deadman isn’t concerned about his reputation
A deadman doesn’t care what company he keeps
It’s easy to live with a deadman

Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

The world requires dead men and women. In the land of the dead there is no corruption, in the land of there is no corruption etc. We should live in the land of the dead.
Lord, Please help me to hear God Our Father, speaking to me…I want to live my life in such a way that there is no doubt that I belong to YOU. Help me in my weaknesses to be strong in the things of God, to turn from the worlds pull. I am learning to be content with what I have. What I want is to bea light, to lift out those struggling in darkness. Help me GOD to lead by Your example, not to condem or discourage but to be the encourager who leads into Your truth. Help me to be a missionary right where I am. Lord, this is your work, through me. May I be surrendered to YOU alone. Help me to let things roll off me that don’t matter and be sensitive to hurting people to help them see YOU. Lord, my life is in your hands. May I fulfill the plan God has for me set from before my birth, that I may please GOD. Protect me from the false one who lies and keep me pure before you. Forgive me where I have erred and keep me from repeating offenses. Use me GOD for Your glory.
