You, Hitting the Target in Prayer

Hi!

It’s nearly fall now and 2015 is about to break the ribbon on the last leg of this year’s race. May this season be a great one for you with the Lord.

In a recent editorial I shared a graph with you about the 11 hours per day we spend on social media. The plus side is that we’ve never been so connected.

But did you know that all this information can create a disconnect too? It’s possible for our love to grow cold when the Lord might want us to pitch in with prayer or other helpful ways.

So, I’m going to share a simple plan of action for prayer with you. You can use this for global emergencies or urgent stories that move your heart.

“Prayer is God’s ordained way to bring His miracle power to bear in human need.”

-Dr. Wesley Duewel

P-R-A-Y

P   – Press into His Presence, thank Him for His faithfulness and lift up your prayer points.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” -Ps.46:1

R   – Release God’s peace and power over the details of the crisis.

“Righteousness and just are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.” -Ps.89:14

A   – Ask and keep asking. An emergency unfolds with many details needing prayer.

“Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” -Heb.4:16

Y   – Yours is the kingdom, take time to declare this. Ask for his wisdom over leaders, the key placement of resources and the prevention of evil.

“The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”-Ps. 103:19

Any event in urgent need of prayer will be different, so you can fill in the details of: who, what, when, where and why as you watch the news or connect with victims.

Prayer is one of the most important things you and I can offer in an emergency. Though we might offer our practical help in other ways, prayer will always be one of our most effective ways to hit things fast.
