The Daily Dialogue – Prioritizing Prayer

“Prayer is not monologue, but dialogue.
God’s voice in response to mine
is its most essential part.”
-Andrew Murray

Hello!
I’m sure you’ve said a prayer for the people of Oklahoma by now. Don’t stop. The temptation you and I will face is to begin blocking these crisis situations out. Why? Because too much news can become overload.

The key is showing up when God moves on your heart by “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” (Eph.6) You don’t have to pray about everything and everyone. But when compassion is sparked in your heart “pray attention.” Missions leader John Dawson says, “Always let compassion reach its destination.”

Below you’ll find the prayer for Oklahoma that we posted earlier this week on the 911 Prayer Focus. If you aren’t a part of the 911 response prayer team, you can sign up now. It’s sent out once a month and gives a voice to global hotspots that need increased prayer at crisis points

Abba Father, we unite in a spirit of prayer right now and cry out for your hand of mercy to be outstretched over Moore, Oklahoma. We thank you that you are the God who sees and who hears – that you are not distant, but you are close to the needy and the brokenhearted.

Today we ask for miracles for those who are still trapped in the debris – Father please sustain them, heal them, and by your divine power direct the search and rescue teams to find them speedily.

We bind a spirit of fear right now, in Jesus’ name. Abba, send your spirit of peace to every child who is afraid, and be the comforter of the families who have been affected by today’s devastation. In the midst of calamity, would your presence and your gentle love be made known. We pray for the church of Oklahoma to be empowered and inspired to move and give and love wherever it is needed, and for Jesus to be glorified in their service.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

 have prayed.
