Stuffed and Starved

“A man may study because his brain is hungry for knowledge, even Bible knowledge. But he prays because his soul is hungry for God.”
-Leonard Ravenhill

Hi! How was your Memorial Day weekend? John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” We are eternally grateful for our troops who have served and sacrificed. Thank you for being friends and hero’s to us all!

If you’re like me, you probably spent your extended weekend barbecuing and enjoying the first hint of summer weather, so your belly may be a little full, but let me ask you: Are you still hungry?

You know what I’m talking about.

In His ministry on earth, Jesus frequently addressed the issue of hunger, once saying to a crowd, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you” (John 6.)

Sometimes we come to the Lord because we literally need provision and food. And sometimes we come to Him because we have already so filled ourselves with everything else, that we can feel the deeper underlying hunger for something eternal.

If you are hungry today, talk to Him. Ask Him to fill you. He promises to satisfy.

Some people have found that our Word of the Week devotional really helps them connect with the Lord. Here’s what some people have said about it:
