Gratitude With an Attitude

How are you doing today? Last week we talked about winter and bad days, and it was great to get so much feedback from you. The comment section unfolded a bit of your story to us, and you remain in our prayers for His divine help.

If you’ve been with Prayercentral for awhile, then it’s likely that a part of your story involves my late husband Wayne Dillard’s impact.

Today, he has been in heaven for 4 years.

One of the things that Wayne was BIG on was gratitude. So in his honor, I would like to share one of his poem’s with you, “Gratitude With an Attitude.”

Wayne, in his early days as a leader at Last Days Ministries.

When bad days threaten to bring us down, there are a number of things you & I can do to shift the gravity. One of these things is expressing thanks to God and to those around us. You will find that it does make a difference when you make it a practice.

I am grateful for YOU, for all of your prayers, and for sticking with me for many miles these last 4 years.

I am grateful to God for Wayne, and for all the years we were able to do life together.

In His love and mine,

Kathleen Dillard

Gratitude with an Attitude

by Wayne Dillard, 2005

When life is trying to beat you down,
And your heart cops a bad attitude.
It’s time to stop and train your thoughts
On some life-giving gratitude.

When darkness crowds out the joy of your life,
And everything seems so unfair.
Just hold your breath for a minute or so,
Then remember you’re grateful for air.

Each day there’s bad stuff coming your way,
It seems like a huge amount.
So calculate all those terrible things,
Then be grateful, at least you can count.

Nobody seems to care, you say,
And a pitiful song starts to ring.
Pause at the chorus, and take a bow,
Then be grateful to God you can sing.

You can’t pay the bills, you’ve lost your job,
And nobody knows your name?
Open the latest tabloid,
And be grateful you don’t have their fame.

You can’t change the bad stuff happening to you,
And the things that bum you out.
But if you take some time for gratitude,
You can erase that great big pout.
