Fill Your Bucket

Did you know there are still places in the world where women lug buckets to fetch water from a well? Here is a recent photo for you that I took of just that.

Filling your bucket is different from having a “bucket list.” You know what I’m talking about, right? Scooping up the heaven-sourced water that God extends to you.

“For the kingdom of this world is filled with many things that leave a muddy smear; and when you let your mind dwell on these things, a heaviness and dullness creeps in like a sudden fog. And this is why I have told you to, ‘whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.’ Be aware, says the Lord. There is a difference between what defiles and what benefits; and there is a difference between what is acceptable and what is best.”

I want you to fill your bucket. That’s how you keep yourself ready to partner with God.

Prayer of Blessing for Afghanistan

The thief does not come
except to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it
more abundantly.

(John 10:10)

 

 

Lord Jesus, we ask that You would bring justice to the people of Afghanistan. Every place where the enemy has caused deception in order to destroy, we ask for Your truth and light to conquer.

For the Afghani refugees, we pray for protection in the lands to where they have fled. May Your people in these countries reach out to them with compassion and understanding, showing these displaced peoples that there is a God in heaven who cares for their every need.

We pray for the leaders among the influential Pashtun tribe to have divine encounters with the sons and daughters of the most high God. We ask for dreams and visions to show them the all-sufficient power of Christ. As they begin to understand Your truth, we pray for immediate repentance and an irresistible draw to the cross to transform them, and in turn, transform the people they lead.

As the knowledge of Your glory spreads throughout Afghanistan, we ask for a blessing on the land. We pray that the opium crops that are grown to fund terrorism would be replaced with saffron and other viable crops to sustain the people’s livelihood. We ask for protection over the farmers who seek to do what’s right and that they would be given favor within their communities.

Lord, the blood of many lives cries out from the ground in Afghanistan. We agree together that they haven’t died in vain. Bring redemption, heal the land, release peace and stability. We cover this blood, with Your blood dear Jesus. While many kingdoms have sought to conquer and possess Afghanistan over many centuries, today we cry out that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on the earth as it is in heaven by the authority of Your blood.

Jesus, we stand in agreement with Your purposes in Afghanistan: to destroy the devil’s power, and to bring abundant life to everyone! We love what You do and who You are, and we stand on this promise because of the power of Your name. Amen.
