Child labor is a serious problem with no easy solution.
For children who don't work, the family doesn't eat. When the children work, they can't go to school. This lack of education dooms them to a life of menial labor and ignorance.

The women in India do most of the hard labor. This worker carries
about 25 lbs. of cement on her head.
Her great smile hides the fatigue of working all day in the hot sun,
then gathering firewood and cooking dinner for her husband and kids. |

In the last few years there have been numerous cases of murder,
raping of nuns, church burning, and other brutalities.
