The Lord's Prayer
When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, He gave them a simple 6 step pattern to follow, known as the "Lord's Prayer." Jesus didn't intend for us to just pray the same words he spoke in Matthew 6:9, He intended it to be an outline for prayer. Use each verse of the Lord's prayer as a guideline to help keep your prayer-time on track.
"Pray, then, in this way:"
Step 1 "Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name." This is the call to praise and worship. Take time to honor the Lord and consider His greatness. Remember His faithfulness to you and be encouraged by His promises.
Step 2 "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. "Align yourself with God's will, and listen so you can know His desires. Proclaim God's will over your life, family, church, the lost, etc. Wait and allow the Lord to share His heart and will with you.
Step 3 "Give us this day our daily bread." Ask God for your needs and the needs of others. Be specific, and ask in faith for anything you know the Lord wants to give you ie. Ask and I will give you the nations as an inheritance. (see step 2).
Step 4 "And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." Ask God for forgiveness in any areas of known sin, and speak out forgiveness toward anyone you have not forgiven.
Step 5 "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Ask God for the grace to stand firm in the face of temptation and resist the schemes of the enemy. Remembering to look to Jesus for the way of escape.
Step 6 "For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen." Finish with proclaiming who God is and exalting His name. Take time to thank Him for the answers to come, and to worship Him.
Conditions to Answered Prayer
1. Right relationship with God. Clean heart.
Psalm 24:3-4 "Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord ? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, And has not sworn deceitfully."
Psalm 66:18 "If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear..."
2. Right relationship with others. Forgiveness and humility.
Matthew 5:23-24 "If therefore you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering."
-1 Peter 5:5 "You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
-1 Peter 3:7 "You husbands likewise, live with [your wives] in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered."
3. Childlike faith. Simple and from your heart.
Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please [Him], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and [that] He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
-John 5:15 "And if we know that He hears us [in] whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him."
4. Gratitude. Always giving thanks.
Psalm 100:4 "Enter His gates with thanksgiving, [And] His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
5. Obedience. Willingness to do whatever the Lord shows you.
De 28:2 "And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the LORD your God."
1 Peter 3:12 "For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer..."
6. Perseverance. Don't give up. Keep your request before God until he answers.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 "pray without ceasing;"
Ephesians 6:18 "With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,"
7 Minutes to Prepare the Way
"You have to plow the ground before you sow the seeds."
Power is released when we bring God's word to bear on the need. Use
these scriptures as a starting point for your prayer and let the Holy
Spirit guide you into intercession.
Prepare the way- by praying 7 min. a day for 7 days before any Christian outreach.
1- Hes Gods man-Remove your hand-(1min.) When a minister sets out to promote Gods Kingdom, he often runs into opposition of all kinds. Take your place along side the man or woman of God and rebuke the schemes of the enemy against his life, family, health, finances, and ministry. -Psalms 84:11 "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
2- To preach the word-You must be heard-(1min.))- There are many unsung heroes working behind the scenes so the outreach can be effective. Ask God to anoint these workers with the skill and wisdom they need. -Exodus 35:31 "And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in all craftsmanship;"
3- Anoint the man-And make him stand-(1min.)- Preaching falls flat without the anointing power of the Holy Spirit. Ask God to clothe His man/woman with power from on High that he might have boldness, and freedom to speak the truth in love. -Mark 6:12-13 "They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them."
4- The devil lied-Push him aside-(1min.)- The devil has blinded the eyes of the unbelieving. Christ came that all men might be free. Stand in your authority as an ambassador of Christ, and bind the deception and accusations of the devil that would hold people back from receiving the Gospel. -2Corinthians 4:4 "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."
5- Truth impart- Straight to the heart-(1min.)
For truth to penetrate to the heart of man it must be clothed in the power of God. Ask for the Holy Spirit to bring deep conviction of sin. -John 16:8 "When he (the Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment."
6- Change of mind-New life they find-(1min.)- Ask God for mercy on those who are perishing, and for the grace they need to yield themselves to the simplicity of the Gospel. -2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
7- New life takes root- Now bear some fruit-(1min.)- Ask God to protect and water the new life that has begun. -Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Dont forget to also Protect the fruit for 7 days after your outreach.
7 Minutes to Protect the Fruit
"You have to guard the fruit, before you can harvest."
Power is released when we bring God's word to bear on the need. Use these
scriptures as a starting point for your prayer and let the Holy Spirit
guide you into intercession.
Protect the fruit- by praying 7 min. a day for 7 days after any Christian Outreach.
1- No crash-No backlash-(1min.)- Ministers often experience spiritual attack after fruitful ministry. Cover these points- Hedge of protection, cancel curses, dispatch Gods Angels, Guidance of the Holy Spirit, pluck your feet out of the net. -Psalms 18:2 "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
2- Protect the seed- No broken reed- (1min.)- The seed of conviction has been planted in many hearts, but its tender. God said, A bruised reed will not be broken. Ask God to watch over and protect the seeds that were planted. -Psalms 12:5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them."
3- Truth revealed-Let it be sealed- (1min.)- The truth can seem more real in the midst of a ministry meeting. Ask the Holy Spirit to guard over the truth that was revealed, and continue to bring revelation of Gods love and grace. -John 14:26 "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
4- Birds attack-Beat them back- (1min.)- The lies and accusations of the devil follow closely behind fresh revelation. In the parable of the soils, the birds of the air come to snatch away the truth of the Gospel. Stand in your authority as an ambassador of Christ and cancel the schemes of the enemy. -1 John 3:8 "...The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work."
5- The choice is made-A foundation laid- (1min.) The choice to follow Jesus is just the first step. Ask God to provide the grace people need to follow through on their commitment and walk in obedience to Christ. -John 14:15-16 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you for ever--"
6- Born again- Now take them in- (1min.)- One of the first things a new Christian needs is fellowship with other believers. Ask God to stir other Christians to be a family to these new believers. -Ephesians 4:16 "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."
7- They've turned about- Now send them out - (1min.)- Because Christianity is a relationship and not a belief system, even a young believer can share his experience with others. Ask God to give them the desire and the opportunity to share their faith, and spread the Gospel. Eph 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Be sure you Prepare the Way for 7 days before your outreach.
