Five Finger Prayer

five-fingers1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a “sweet duty”.

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God’s guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, “the least shall be the greatest among you.” Your pinky should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

This is the neatest way to pray! I will be remembering this from now on.
    Thank-you ever so much.

I am praying for a God-given, world-wide disillusionment with all counterfeit gods, idols and counterfeit ideas of security, all these false things that are lifted up against the knowledge of the One True God Most High. I pray for this God-given disillusionment to prepare the ground of millions of hearts to receive the Word of Truth: Peace, Salvation in Jesus Christ and in Him alone.

    Dear Valerei and Madelein,

You both are in my prayers. God already knows your needs and is making a way for you, He promises this to all his children. Keep going and don’t give up because the reward is great:)

    Sincerely,

    Cherish

I have tried every way to pray with results.I pray God will hear my prayers for my husband. He is out of God’s will and for many years ago he was saved and worked so hard in the church and then it stopped and he went back to the ways of the world. He has been miserabe for years. He make’s sure he makes my life miserable all the time I have prayed every day and lots of times during the day. I have struggled for many many years with this. I still keep my faith and
serve God and my church. I pray God will answer soon cause I am so tired of living like. Thanks for anybody that will pray for me.

These are great reminders for intercessory prayer, but as I look at the image, the first thing that comes to mind is the “nailprint” in the palm of the hand. As we open our hands in submission to God, the first thing should be to give thanks to him and praise Him for his mercies… then move on to the fingers. Then as we close our hands at the end of our prayer thank him for holding us in the palm of his hand throughout the dy.
