Prayer for Syria

Over the past three years, over 100,000 Syrians have lost their lives in the escalating conflict between forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and those opposed to his rule. More than 2.5 million people have fled Syria since the start of the conflict, most of them women and children. Neighboring countries (Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey) have struggled to accommodate the new arrivals. Since the beginning of 2013, the conditions in Syria have deteriorated rapidly, causing a dramatic increase in refugees fleeing the country.

Let’s pray.

911 Prayer for Syria

“But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.”
–Psalm 10:14

Father God, we plead for your mercy and justice on behalf of all those who are suffering in Syria. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we bind demonic strongholds that have taken root, and we ask that Your judgments will be released on the violent spirits that incite people to commit atrocities. Like a flood, may Your truth and mercy overtake those who have been victimized through this war.

We pray for radical conversions of those who are bent on violence – just like Saul on the road to Damascus, may they meet You and be transformed. We ask that Your Holy Spirit woo the hearts of President Assad as well as the rebel leaders to seek peace and what is best for the people of Syria

For the millions of refugees living in crowded, extreme conditions, we pray for protection from disease, starvation and conflict. We bless the aid workers there who are trying to meet the needs of so many. We pray that in this dire situation, that Jesus Himself will be seen among the poor and afflicted, and may they embrace the One who loves them most. May Your hope lift them up and heal their broken hearts.

Lord God, we do not know how this war will turn out and it seems that there are no man-made solutions, so we simply ask that YOUR Kingdom come, YOUR will be done in Syria as it is in heaven: salvation, healing, deliverance, and peace.

In the name of the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen.

 have prayed.
