Israel and the Absence of Peace

With last week’s bus bombing in Tel Aviv and this week’s U.N. vote to recognize Palestine as a “non-member observer state,” Israel is still very much in need of our prayers. Following the bus bombing, which left 24 injured, a cease-fire was declared between Israel and Palestine, however many doubt whether this will be upheld.

While politicians remain divided over the implications of the UN’s declaration, U.S. United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice reminds us that, “The absence of peace risks the presence of war.” Now is the time to be faithfully obedient to what the Father has commissioned us to do for His firstborn, Israel. Today, we pray again for peace.

Below is a prayer, but would you also consider praying for Israel once a day this month? Our 31 Days of Prayer for Israel card can really help give you simple yet precise ideas of what to pray. This would also be a great link to share with friends via email or Facebook as we rally prayer for Israel!

Father, today we thank you for your everlasting faithfulness to Israel. YOU are the Redeemer of Israel (Isaiah 49:7.) We declare that you have not forsaken her and are leading her with “cords of kindness” (Hosea 11:4) in the midst of these trials and tribulations. Today we ask for your peace to reign in Israel. We bind confusion and ask that you would diffuse feelings of anger by restoring hope and courage in the hearts of her citizens. Would you impart YOUR divine wisdom and strategic solutions to the politicians as they negotiate with the UN and Palestine, and would you freeze all terrorist activity that is being planned right now, in the name of Jesus.

Sword of the Word – Verses for you to use:

“I led them with cords of kindness…How can I hand you over, O Israel? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender. They shall come trembling from the west; and like doves from the land of Assyria, and I will return them to their homes, declares the Lord.” (Hosea 11:4, 8, 10-11)

“The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.” (Psalm 98:2-3)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:3)
