Day-29 A Prayer of Forgiveness

“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” -Isaiah 53:3-5

Today’s Word:

Lord Jesus, I come to you with my broken heart. I lay out my anger over the wrongs done to me and the desire to take revenge. As I look at the cross, I realize that You suffered and took on Yourself all of the injustice of the world. I acknowledge that it was also my sin that put You on the cross. Because You so freely forgave me, I now forgive everyone who has ever done me harm or offended me.

I ask that You would heal all the wounds that some of these wrongs have caused. I give these wounds to You, knowing that Your suffering has embraced them and now I can be healed. I declare that I will trust You to set all things to right and that I don’t have to take revenge. I acknowledge that nothing has escaped Your notice and that You alone are the Righteous Judge.

Father God, I thank You for Your relentless love and faithfulness to me over the years. I thank You for carrying me through the tough times, when I didn’t have the strength to stand. I thank You that You have always remained faithful, even when I was faith-less. I thank You that You are teaching me how to be like You, and that You will accomplish far more than I can see or imagine through this situation.

Jesus, I am yours. I will trust in Your safe-keeping from now into eternity.

Scripture:

“…Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” -Genesis 18:25

“Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.”  -Psalm 86:11-12

“…if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” -2 Timothy 2:13
